Corvette Club Gives to Local Charities

The Pomona Valley Corvette Association (PVCA), a Southern California car club since 1962 for Corvette enthusiasts of the Inland Empire, decided to take a different direction regarding their philanthropic giving. The path they chose was to give locally.

Members submitted possible candidates, and four were chosen to receive funds: Assistance League® Pomona Valley (ALPV), Shoes That Fit, Easter Seals, and a local youth boxing club.

At the club’s meeting on October 10, 2023, members of ALPV, president Jane Hubbard, Nitzi Barker, and Donna Spencer, were in attendance to accept a check from the organization. Also in attendance was Diana Butcher, a member of both PVCA and ALPV, who had submitted ALPV as a worthy recipient. Ms. Hubbard spoke to the group to thank them for supporting ALPV, and informing the group what ALPV does for the community.

Assistance League of Pomona Valley provides services to low-income children and adults living in Chino Hills, Claremont, Diamond Bar, La Verne, Pomona and San Dimas.  They are dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of children and families in these communities.

The signature program is Operation School Bell®, which provides school clothing for children in kindergarten through 12th grade.  Family Care Kits are provided containing toiletries and household items that help families meet their daily needs. Additionally, ALPV operates a dental center where staff provide free routine and emergency dental care to children and adults from low-income families that otherwise are unable to receive this critical care. In December, local school districts refer families to the Act of Giving program, in which ALPV members adopt families who need a little extra help in making the holiday season joyous.

After the presentation, president Charles Adamson of PVCA presented the check to ALPV president, Jane Hubbard.

The Corvette club is very active in the community, participating with their cars in events such as parades, festivals, and high school homecoming games, where honorees sit on the cars and wave to the crowds while being driven around.

The Corvette association is like a family, that participates in rally’s, trips, and track days. Membership is open to owners of Corvettes. Contact information can be found at pvca.org.
