1st Annual Create A Smile Gala – A Huge Success
Assistance League® of Pomona Valley held its 1st Annual “Create A Smile” Gala on September 29, 2016 at the historic Padua Hills Theatre in Claremont California. Over 130 guests attended the event that included wonderful hors d’oeuvres and wine, a Jazz Concert by Dale Boatman and the CalJAS All-Stars, and magical feats by Magician Jon Armstrong. Also, there were 13 opportunity baskets each valued at over $300, a 50′ putting green for those wanting to display their skills, a caricaturist to create endearing memories and a wine “mystery” table where a ticket bought a chance to choose a bottle valued from $15-$160. It was a wonderful way to benefit our Dental Center and Operation School Bell® philanthropies.
Our organization serves about 1,400 children annually through these programs and the need increases each year. 2016, marks our 70th year of continued service to children from low income families in Pomona Valley communities.
On behalf of all the members of Assistance League® of Pomona Valley, and the children we serve, we want to thank our generous donors and the attendees who supported our Gala. Without their support we could not expand these much needed programs to our clients. And, special thanks goes to John Alsop for his help and guidance with this event. John is a member of our Philanthropic Advisory Board and his guidance was a key factor in the success of this new fundraising event.
We also want to thank City of Pomona Council Member Debra Martin, and Yolanda Fuquay, representing Los Angles County Supervisor Hilda Solis, who presented us with proclamations commemorating our 70 years of community service.
