On Monday, May 13, Assistance League of Pomona Valley held its 20^th annual Smile with a Child Golf Tournament sponsored by Oremor Automotive Group. Each year this eagerly anticipated tournament draws a sell-out line up of golfers. The tournament kicked off with putting contests and brunch at beautiful Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga. Golfers enjoyed an abundance of food, drinks and games along the course followed by a cocktail hour, which included the always exciting helicopter ball drop. Five balls found their way to the hole, so the pot was split between the winners. Countless opportunity prizes lined the lobby and many attendees walked away with prize baskets that included LA County Fair tickets, Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival tickets, a Total Wine and More wine class, Disneyland tickets, Magic Mountain tickets, lobster dinners, and outdoor entertaining packages. The evening concluded with an awards dinner that included an exciting live auction featuring unique spirits gathered from distilleries around the country. Superintendent of PUSD, Richard Martinez, was on hand to deliver a heartfelt speech about the impact and importance of our philanthropic services.

The Smile with a Child Golf Tournament is our largest fundraiser of the year. Tournament co-chairs Rene Sippel and Laura Romero, along with golf aficionado Cathy Rockwell, lead a committee that spends nearly an entire year planning this important fundraiser.  The proceeds from the event allow ALPV to provide children with new clothing and books through Operation School Bell and free dental services through their dental center.
