In 1992, a local agency, Project Sister, requested a partnership with the Les Fleurs auxiliary. The organization provides physical and emotional support to victims of sexual assault during, and after, hospital examination. Chapter members packaged kits that included personal toiletry items, snacks, gum, underwear and sweat pants/shirts.
The national organization approved the request of Assistance League of Pomona Valley to add this as an official program in 1993.
In the ensuing years, kits have been assembled to serve not only adult women, but also teens and younger boys and girls. These kits also contain small games and toys to help distract the children during their emergency room visit.
